we r the giants..

Got both the sofa n coffee table over the weekends! sorry guys, u'll jus have to walk crab style when u come over, cos the set is huge n our living hall is jus so tiny. Haaa..........but we jus love it for it's massive size. Nicky has pronounced us "The Giant" couple cos we seem to like everything big and have requested for alot of things to b bigger n higher than the standard sizes.

Hard at work...while I skive n play wif the camera

Productive Week(end)

We got the Iman dining set!!! Yeah!!! cost quite a bit but after 1-2 mths of contemplating, we decided we JUST got to have it. It is beautiful with its' simple lines, nothing fancy, something which we both like. We have viewed hundreds of dining sets and each time, we just kept comparing them to the Iman. So by last week, I told darl that we shld go ahead n get it. Our petrol costs over the many weeks prob already total up to a pretty neat sum. So when u girls come over to party, make sure u take care of my precious dining set ok! I'll kill anyone who bangs against it or spills wine on it. It's not a threat, it's a promise! hahahaha...

Besides the dining set, we also got the lights all settled. Pretty nice uncle who attended to us. He gave discount without asking and helped us save cost by dishing out good ideas. At one point I was checking out crystal lights which cost abt $150-$200 ea (small ones), and he actually said "dun wan lah. buy the downlights/halogen lights, makes ur foyer looks neater n nicer" The downlights cost less than $20 ea, if I remember correctly. He also gave some tips on feng shui which was funny cos it made us buy less lights frm him. He's also not pushy which I really like.

As for the paint, we too settled that with Nicky, the ID (finally!). Rite, I ate my words and went thru the colour scheme wif my dearest again. But I must say, the new colours should look better than what we first picked. We checked out the 1st coat on Sun, and they look nice. They should be a shade darker when the house's complete.

Next on the "to do" list will be sound/ entertainment system. Went all the way to Adelphi yesterday only to find K.E.C. closed. So we checked out Jamo (irene's recommendation). Pretty good and not too ex. The sound's really clear as mentioned by Irene, clearer than the Bose Lifestyle 28 and one grand cheaper. The speakers n woofer r big thou but we both decided that if we r not getting the Bose (known for its' cube size speakers), we might as well go all the way and get huge ones! More shiok! However, as it's not a cheap investment, we want to check out a few more before we decide. So we r going again this week and hopefully make a final decision come Sat, if not Nicky will start to panic cos he needs to know the measurement of the "Am" before he can start on carpentery work. This is one chore I am happy to do. Will bring my own music CDs to check out the systems and I'll have u know that I am now an expert on the movie "Hero" Scene 17 (i think), chess n rain drops effects!

Crazy...........

It's offical. I am going crazy and the cause of it is non other than a certain Mr Ng. From Sun till now, i have already lost count on how many times he has re-chosen our house colours. I have decided not to participate in this chore from now on. So if u guys think my house colours are darn weird or ugly, blame it on him and of cos, if u think they are very nice..the credit will go to him. If i contine to "play" along with him, i swear i'll end up wif a heart attack.
While I understand he is really trying very hard to chose the best paint to suit our needs (prevent cracks etc), it is really quite ....(argh)......to pick, repick, pick and repick again rite. Even my bro was shaking his head when he saw how Mr Ng was studying the colour guide. Sigh...I have decided not to shift in the coming 10 years! It's too hard on me....

It's our 7th anniversary today...

Today also means we have been engaged for a year. And when i remember the day he proposed, I also remember Simin. She had been his assistant that day, helping WX to keep me away from my room for hours. She was so funny with all her giggles and screams whenever I happened to walk pass my room. Though she tried real hard to do a good job, her weakness was a soft heart. after 5 mins of non-stop whining frm me, she gave in to my request for a tiny peek but i swear I didn't see a thing. I was jus hvaing fun teasing her. I think she had loads of fun that day. Sad thing was, she never got her reward. All she wanted was a pizza treat.

Anyway, it has been 7 years but it's funny how it doesn't feel like it has been so long. Though i tell everyone we are such an old couple, seriously it feels more like 2-3 yrs. I'll like to think we can maintain this lovey dovy feeling forever. We'll be the sweet old ah ma and ah gong who hold hands in the park. hahaha...

I think we were quite ruthless when it came to rejecting the pictures.

the pictures are out........

Posted by Picasa

That's us with the selected pictures!
According to our photographer David, he took close to 1000 pictures of us and family. took us hours to go through the pile of pictures. We step into the studio at 3pm and left the place at only 9.20pm.

I confess that I was really, really worried about the pictures after our photoshoot. We even discussed abt the possibility of re-taking the pictures. But i must now say, I am quite pleased with David's work. He may look kinda ah beng (wx words), but he does noe his stuff. But of cos, what pleases me may not be for another person. my mum for one think they r "hhmm....ok lor" and my sis was more interested in her own pictures.

Yvonne must have gone home a happy woman last nite. She's our coordinator btw. We were much poorer when we left the studio. She said she expected us to go all the way to 10k!?? (this is additional top up we are talking about, excluding the package amount ok..) Mad.... I wasn't willing to spend so much on pictures, 3 k was my max and i was trying hard to convey that message to weesiong by punching hard on the calculator and shoving it in his face. but the sweetie decided it's once in a lifetime and he wants me to have the pictures. Aww.....i vow to be more docile and sweet from now on..

so there...we prob have to eat grass for a couple of months and looks like we ain't gg anywhere for honeymoon. not straight away I mean. At the crazy rate we are spending on the house reno and wedding prep, we are going broke soon. I thank God i m not a woman into details. imagine if i m, the cost will only keep escalating.

It's gg to be relocated to make the dining area slightly more spacious. The kitchen right wall is also gone, wiring is going to be done by sunday and wet works by next week! Everything is moving forward smoothly.

I hear u ....and u....

Sorry Jean, no pics from photo shoot. I have not seen them myself and m worried sick that they will turn out crappy. u noe me, i freeze infront of the camera. I'll prob get to see them next week according to the studio people. All I can say is, it was fun, for myself and I think the girls in my family ie. my mum, sis- in-law and esp my sis. We had family pics taken and couple shots for the rest of them. The disappointing thing was that we spent too much time in the studio and too little time outdoor. We much prefer outdoor but bcos of time constraint, we only managed 2 locations. But from that 2 locations, i got 25 mozzie bites! Got my mum darn worried, with all the dengue stuff going on. So there she was slapping all sorts of cream over my arms and back. My bro also got worried and fed me pills and some tasteless liq. Rather heart warming to see them so sweet n concerned.

As for u irene, i will now bring my camera along with me, wherever i go and most imptly, rem to take pics.

A blissful sat, a productive sun..

Sat was blissful, I got to sleep till late...which is darn rare these days.
We only had to go round checking out bathroom accessories late in the afternoon, after which we proceeded to his cousin's place for her housewarming party.
On the way back to the west, WX started a lecture on Wedding Preparation 101 to his young cousin and her bf! 20mins or so into his lecture, I finally put a stop to it and told him "nicely" tat the young couple prob doesn't want to noe abt wedding preps yet and it's not a great idea to stress out the chap who looks fresh out of NS, thou he's a...bit...older than tat.
So that was a nice sat, kinda stress free for once and I think both of us had fun. We even managed to play some pool.

Sunday was great! Met our ID in the morning @ our place and went over the layout. Tiles shopping again at Balestier after that. I couldn't believe it. We actually picked our tiles 3 times, over 2 Sundays! It's a good thing both J & N are blessed with patience. Anyway, luff...the tiles i have picked for the MBR bathroom. Both me and WX are very excited with the end results.

Pop over to Harvey at J.P. and got our microwave oven (ya..kinda early but what the heck) and most imptly, we got the TV as well! Yeah!!! Can't wait! It's a cool babe..and I bet it's gonna look great on our wall.

We also......had a major pigged out session at Billy Bombers! Lots of meat....and lots of potatoe salad which we abs love.

argh.....

It has been 2 days after the photo shoot and I am still exhausted.
Not looking forward to this weekend. More chores to do.

the sunday where we were supposed to veg n stay pretty

I think "rest" no longer exists in our dictionary. We planned for sunday to be a R&R day, so that we will be rested and relaxed come this Wed when we have our photo shoot but it didn't turn out as planned.

We didn't meet our ID, nor checked out any funky fridge but we went scouting instead. It was fun in the begining, seeing parts of Singapore which we don't even know exist. There's a huge, huge chinese cemetry behind lornie road. It was eerie...it doesn't look like those in Lim Chu Kang, this one looks like its hidden from the rest of the world and forgotten. Small, dark roads, funny shapes in the distance. It gave me the spooks and I didn't sleep well last nite. Silly i noe..

We also went to Botanic Garden, the only good thing which happended there was my strawberry ice cream. It was hot and I was tired. The walk seems endless and we couldn't find what we were looking for.

By the time we got to mt faber, i was so exhausted that I wanna break down in tears. The washroom was under renovation and the car was parked like a mile away. The day didn't end there, we still had to make our way to Lot 1 to get WX's specs changed and made an appt for my mani n pedi on tues. I certainly dun look forward to the nail works, I have to sit for 1 1/2 hrs! I dun understand why other girls love facial n doing mani n pedi..I'll rather be abit uglier.

The facial!

ok, the facial was alrite. but at the end of 2 sessions, i firmly believe I am not the type who likes facial.
1. I do not have the patience to lie there for 1 1/2hrs, doing nothing. I get darn restless.
2. I hate the steamer. I just can't breathe with it blowing steam at my face for like wat? 15mins?it felt like forever.
3. I always feel like sneezing after she put on the mask for me. (read, only after).

Anyway it was funny, the Mr. freaked out when Q.S. wanted to trim his brows. Hahaha..actually, i prefer it wild and bushy..looks more manly. But Q.S. said no matter wat, the MUA will trim it for him on our PS, so it's better to have her do it. I took a few pics of him, but there's no way he'll let me live if I post it here.

So I was thinking, for the sake of the wedding, I'll make a trip back say, a mth before the big day. But...i was forced to go back a mth later! Q.S. wouldn't let me go, she said she'll even sms me a day b4 to remind me of the appt and she got weisiong to promise to send me there...she's one firm, fierce beautician. well, weesiong got off easy. looks like he doesn't have to go back for more sessions.

to my husband to be

When are we going for our next holiday???

Thursday, October 06, 2005

OMG! I can't believe I did that!

I actually email a photographer and told him his work is only so so but he's cheap!
"faint"

Kitchen

I wonder if it is still my territory. While we both understand that I will clearly be the one who will b cooking (cos the mr can only cook fried rice and eggs), I seem to have lost all say in the design. I guess it's good in a way, cos in future I'll have an excuse not to cook if I dun like the layout and design.

The Dragon.........

Ok, so we have decided and confirmed the venue for the 2nd banquet. It's gonna be Dragon Gate. WX's dad seems to b very taken with the place. I wonder why. Maybe its the name, Dragon. He's a dragon, his son is a dragon and so is my dad. Maybe he thinks its appropriate...hmm...
Well, the food is supposed to be good according to a friend who started drooling when he heard abt the venue and requested to be invited to the 2nd dinner instead of the 1st. Funny guy...who started "singing" my name for the rest of the nite after he found out my chinese name.

So we went down to view the place on a weekday nite. In a very typical chinese resturant style, the guy in charge brought us on a very short "tour" and started waving around, explaining how things would look like and thrust 2 pamphlets at us and said "that's the wedding package". It's amusing in a way, that people still run businesses like that.

In order to blend in with the decor, I think I will get myself a cheongsam, in red and maybe paint my lips in chilli red and do my hair up, in a chignon (think shanghai style). What do you think?

The banquets...

We are going to have 2! It sounds tiring, but since I get to be pretty for 2 days, I am not complaining..
We booked Raffles The Plaza for our 1st dinner on Sat, 20th Aug. We had to do it fast, because 8th Mar turns out to b a very ausp date. I made calls to quite a number of hotels, and they were already booked. So when I called RTP, and was told it was still free for booking, Weixiong and me didn't want to sit around and wait too much. In Singapore, couples apparently booked their venues on average a year ahead. So when we finally cld decide on our wedding day, we were only left with 6 months to go.

So on our first appointment, we signed and made the deposit. Checked out the bridal suite and I must say...it is beautiful. No regrets! It's gonna be fun holding my wedding there.

Now, we have to start looking for venue to hold the 2nd banquet. A resturant this time, according to WX's dad's request..(ahem...or was it demand?? hee) Shortlisted a few places, we will view them within the 1 - 2 weeks.

The date has been picked!

After much (heated??) discussions, we finally reached an agreement and decided on 8th March 2006. The 2nd dinner will be held a week later. So guys, write it down in ur diary k. It's a Wed!

We are now in debt!

We got our house keys today! 5 mins after collecting the keys, both of us realised that we are now in debt. Not a pleasant thought for people like us who never like to borrow money. But we are still happy nonetheless. We are now proud houseowner. Okay...not really tat proud, maybe after the renovation. The house is totally bare right now, with only the washrooms and kitchen walls done. Hey, we got lucky too, cos the tiles colour turned out to be ok. phew....we get to save some money on the kitchen walls =)

My flower girl left

Simin was diagnoised with Brain Stem Giloma on the 14th March 05. All preparation work for the wedding and house hunting came to a stop, no one was in the mood. A little angel of 8 when we learned of her illness, she died on the 10th July, jus a month after her 9th birthday.

She's still be my flower girl and will remain forever in my memories as my little princess.

After all the merry making...came the hard work

Well, it was fun at the begining, the search for the "perfect" bridal studio to work with, but as we went through the many studios along the T. Pagar stretch, it became tiring...
We went thru so many of them and each has its pros and cons. Our last 2 stops were Sophia and Milan. Love the photography done by Sophia and the gowns look pretty. But....the manager in charge actually thought we are a new couple, going round trying on gowns for fun. Sigh....if she had tried harder to sell her wares, I guess we would have signed up with her.

Now her neighbour, Milan (which I later realised, belong to the same management), is an entirely different story. They sell, and pretty agressively. I do like their photography and I jus couldn't forget my friend's pictures taken by them as well. So...we went home $5.1k poorer..with a made to measure package. I shudder to think how much it will cost at the end of the day when we picked our pictures and buy more.

After the BS, came the house hunt. We decided on Jurong area cos darl wants to stay near his folks, and it isn't too far from mine. 5 mins from his, 10 mins from mine (ok...that's if i speed). Further north, like Woodlands seems like an 8hr flight for him. Can u believe it? Singapore is a small tiny island, everywhere is 30mins away. Sigh...
